Dedicated to the field of clinical negligence.

The Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers (SCIL) is a member organisation for specialist claimant solicitor firms (approximately 80 firms) dedicated to the field of clinical negligence.

SCIL members are professional experts in clinical injury law who act for claimants. They triage approx. 100,000 cases per year at no charge - of these 100,000, only around 2% have a potential case.

We are active in working closely with our members to seek changes and clarity on a whole breadth of issues relevant to practitioners. Recent work has involved making the process easier for obtaining records of deceased patients, drafting the COVID-19 Clinical Negligence Protocol, and challenging the government on its proposals around Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC).

We are actively advocating an alternative – The SCIL Scheme. You can find out more about how you can support our campaign here.

SCIL also hosts an annual conference for specialist accredited solicitors. This promises to bring together members with fellow professionals where the day will include an exhibition and talks by leading individuals on a wide number of topics that will affect the vast majority of clinical negligence practitioners.
